How Does it Work?

If you need a maths tutor in Truro, I can help! I teach children (KS3 to KS5) and adult learners to improve their maths skills and increase their confidence.

If you’re looking for someone to help your child improve their grades to hit their exam targets, or if you’re ‘not a numbers person’ and want to overcome your fear of maths, then my professional yet personal approach will help you reach your goals.

In-person 1-2-1 tutoring

Maths tutoring takes place in person, where we can work through problems with pen and paper. This allows us to methodically go through the working-out and problem-solving process.

Lessons can take place at either your house, or at mine in central Truro (with ample parking).

Online 1-2-1 tutoring

For remote learners, there's the option to utilise online tutoring. I use specific software to digitally recreate the in-person experience. Using Google Meet and Whiteboard software, you’ll benefit from face-to-face interaction alongside digital pen and paper annotations. We’ll follow the same step-by-step process as if in-person, to easily work through calculations together.

What does a typical session look like?

Your first hour session is offered at an introductory rate. We’ll meet to establish the requirements we discussed when you first booked the sessions.

Whether you’re a parent booking sessions for your KS3/KS4 child, an A-level KS5 student, or an adult learner, the first session allows me to create a framework to build your learning programme tailored to your:

Topics needing attention
Individual learning style
Current level of understanding

I’ll establish the best approach to working together to maximise the learning outcomes from each session.

We’ll then get straight into the maths!

Subsequent sessions will focus on the key topics we've identified. If you’re a parent, I’ll provide regular feedback on your child’s progression throughout their areas of need. If you’re an adult learner, we’ll chat about your progress and, where required, how we can adapt the lessons to most suitably cover the topics you're looking to support your child with.

Is there a discount available for block bookings?

I offer a reduced rate/discount for block bookings:

£80 for 2 hours (£84 for KS5)
£375 for 10 hours (£400 for KS5)
